After the head of the house - Mr Heinz Birk - had finished his training in the hotel and tourist trade, he dedicated himself intensively to his hobby - wine cultivation - and made trading in fine wines his future activity...

He fostered his special passion for the wine-growing country of Austri a by starting a completely new sales line here on the Arlberg.
He wished especially to offer a chance to the "young", emerging vintners to make a name for themselves here on the Arlberg.
Many of these vintners from those early days are now among the best in the country...
